Meet the Elders
Acts 20:28 (NASB)
28 “Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock,
among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers,
to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
Jesse is devoted to his wife, Darlene, of whom he has been married for 60 years. They have 2 children and 2 grandsons.
They came to this body of believers in 1975 and they are founding members of Lake Country Church. The Church has a global / local focus as they have released over 800 believers to the pastorate, missions and other ministries since its beginning. During his tenure, he has helped train and mentor over 100 seminary students.
Jesse was instrumental in beginning a ministry of the church known as Lake Country Christian School in 1980 and the school is still vibrant today, the vision being to educate, equip and encourage Christian leaders to fulfill their God-given purpose and impact their culture.
Jesse knows this body as prayer warriors and he can recall many miracles that Jesus has performed at Lake Country Church.
He has held the positions of Youth Director, Co-Pastor, School Administrator, School Headmaster and Pastor at Lake Country and he has been an elder in this body of believers since 1980.
John Hatton has been a member of Lake Country Church for 28years and has been a part of the elder team for over 20 years. John grew up in Portland Oregon and attended Portland State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. At the completion of four years in the US Army, John began a career with the Burlington Northern Railroad. John retired from the BNSF Railway in 2005. John and Ruth Hatton live in Fort Worth and presently are involved occasionally in mission work in Bangladesh.
Vance Purtell has been a member of Lake country Church for the last nineteen years. He has been a part of the elder team since 2003. Vance grew up in southeast Texas and moved to the Dallas area in 1963. He began his flying career in 1970 mostly flying for private corporations, he recently retired. Vance and his wife Thettie live in Fort Worth and have their son and his family living very close so that they enjoy time together daily.
Eddie Sullivan is the co-owner and operator of Riscky’s Barbeque, a successful chain of restaurants that scales the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Riscky’s is world renowned and is known for its historic appeal and legendary food. Prior to joining Riscky’s he worked in strategic business development at several companies. Notably is his 14 years as the owner/operator of five grocery stores.
Eddie’s greatest strengths are his dynamic leadership, integrity and charisma. He thrives on challenges and new business opportunities. His most recent endeavor involves a partnership with his daughter as the co-owner of an upscale retail store, Sassy Pants Boutique.
Eddie has a passion for service in his local community as well as internationally. He has served locally on the Board of Directors for the YMCA, been a member of the Steering Committee at Lake Country Christian School as well as the Head of Financial Committee at Lake Country Church. He has a heart for missions and travels often to other parts of the world including Africa, China, Italy and Israel.
Eddie lives in Fort Worth with his wife, Stacy. They have three daughters and one grandchild. He attends Lake Country Church where he faithfully serves as an elder. In his free time, Eddie likes to hang out with his family, take his wife out on dates and spend time feeding and caring for livestock on their 60 acres in wise county.
Brent Lyon grew up in Hurst, Texas. He went to college at Texas A&M where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and later a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management. While an undergraduate, he was also a co-op student working every other semester at Otis Engineering (now Halliburton Dallas) in Carrollton, Texas, as he was largely self-funded while in school. One spring semester while working in Carrollton, Brent had an encounter that changed his life. At a college and career home group meeting one evening in April, he met the Lord Jesus and knew that night that he would never be the same.
Two months before graduation, he met Jane North. On their second date, the topic of marriage came up. They were married one week after her graduation the next spring. Brent entered graduate school the next fall. Upon graduation, he took a job with General Dynamics in Fort Worth. It was his 2-to-5 year job out of graduate school. The facility is now a Lockheed Martin plant and Brent has been there over 30 years.
Brent and Jane have four grown children and three grandchildren (so far). They have been members at Lake Country Church since 1993. They were on the worship team for about 9 years, him on guitar & her singing, and have served in a variety of ministries and positions through the years. Brent has been one of the LCC elders since 2014.
Brent & Jane have lived in Saginaw since 1985. Brent served two 3-year terms on the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD Board of Trustees, two of those years as School Board President. He currently serves his former department at Texas A&M, Industrial & Systems Engineering, as Chairman of the Advisory Council.
Larry Davis lived in Hobbs, New Mexico for 50 years before moving to Texas. He has worked in the oil and gas industry for more than 45 years both domestically and internationally. This industry is what brought him to the area.
Larry has been a member of Lake Country Church since 2008 and has been on the Elder Board since 2014. Larry is also very supportive of Lake Country Christian School as it is a ministry of Lake Country Church and he has 3 grandchildren attending LCCS becoming our Christian leaders of tomorrow.
Larry and wife, Donna, live in Fort Worth in the Lake Country subdivision. They have 5 grown children and 9 grandchildren. Three of their children and their families are also members of Lake Country Church.
Scott grew up in south central Texas and is a homegrown Texan. He attended college at Texas State University in San Marcus majoring in communications. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist theological seminary with an emphasis in theology. Scott travel as an evangelist with people like Chris Tomlin and Mercy Me. He would go on a church staff in Houston overseeing youth, college, and singles, but later would become a senior pastor in the Fort Worth area. Scott’s heart is to see people take their next step with God wherever they may be. He believes that the hope of the world is found in Christ and that the doors of the church should be like the arms of Jesus open to everyone. Scott and his wife Renee live here in the Fort Worth and are able to be close to their four children who live in DFW.
